Thanksgiving

Nov 30, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
We celebrated Thanksgiving with hubby's sister, Joan and her husband, Peter.  As always, the food was plentiful.  It is so nice to be surrounded by family and friends during the holidays.  We think about those who are no longer with us and make sure to hug those who are celebrating together with us.  There is so much to be thankful for.

Back Home Again

Nov 17, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
I returned from New York yesterday.  It was great to visit with family and friends, but the experience was tempered by illness and drama.  It was good to get back to the camper and hubby.  We are currently camped on Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.  We will be spending the next two months here, enjoying the warmer weather and visiting with family.

COVID Finds Its Way In

Oct 31, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
I flew home to New York for doctor appointments.  Just two days into my stay, and I was diagnosed with COVID!  After traveling around the country during the pandemic and not contracting it, I think we began to believe we were immune to the virus.  Guess Mother Nature had to prove us wrong.  A 5-day trip turned into a 3-week stay.  While I was quarantined, my symptoms were mild and (thank goodness) I have suffered no lingering effects.  While in New York, my husband contracted COVID back in Nevada 10 days after I got it.  How?  We don't know.  At any rate, we are healed.  I flew back to Nevada and we continued our travels around the country.

Another Birthday

Oct 14, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
I celebrated my 71st birthday today.  Seventy-one sounds old but I don't feel old.  My mind tells me I can still do most of what I did when I was younger.  It is a strange phase of life now.  There is still much to do and a bucket list to continue pursuing.  Guess I will have to follow my motto - I will live forever or die trying.

Our Anniversary

Sep 06, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
We celebrated 51 years of wedded bliss today.  It wasn't always easy but somehow, we managed to make it all work.  There were many ups and downs, mistakes and resets, apologies, kisses and hugs.  It is a fun time right now.  We seem so connected, knowing what each other is thinking and enjoying the same events.  Our travels together are very enjoyable.

Another Family Member

Jul 16, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
I met my father's sister's daughter, Shauna, today along with her two children and various nieces and nephews.  Her mother married and moved from New York to Massachusetts when I was very young.  I had never met Shauna before.  It was a delight to get together and so wonderful to connect with family.  We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and vowed to get together again.

There is Great Sadness in Our House

Jul 01, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
I love animals.  There has always been an animal in the house since the day I entered this world.  But all that furry fun and love comes an end .  Most pets do not live as long as we do.  The time comes when we must say goodbye.  Our dog, Bonnie, developed an aggressive tumor in her upper jaw and nasal cavity.  She  had a bump on the side of her nostril on May 18.  Today, she is gone.  It was so fast.  There is a hole in our family and I am greatly saddened.  We will not get another dog.  Not because we don't want to go through the pain of their death, but because we don't want to leave them with the pain of our death.  We are 70 now and in "The Zone."  What will happen to our furry family when we die?  There is a good chance they would outlive us.  I think we will simply love all our neighbor's pets from this point on.

Summer is Almost Here

Jun 15, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
I was standing outside tonight and saw a lightning bug.  They always seem kind of magical to me, flashing their little lights in the dark, hoping to attract another firefly.  The appearance of these beautiful creatures means summer is almost here.  It is a wonderful time of the year.

Book Sales

Book sales are going great!  I even got a notice that someone in England bought my book.  I guess that makes me an international author.

Golden Nuggets is Now Available

May 15, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
Folks are starting to receive their copies of Golden Nuggets From a Life Well Lived.  Early reviews are very heartening.  Thank you, everyone, for your support.  Here's a review by Shauna Flynn:  I love that this book arrived a week earlier than I thought, on a night when I really needed to relax. And I’m filled with love for my family and life. Well, I just read a Golden Nugget. I am inspired. I feel like I know the writer. Her words of wisdom are so “spot on” with my own, Yet, I always need reminders. I hope to meet you one day soon. You are quite accomplished and have a skill for teaching, naturally. My heart is light tonight. Very easy read and worth the time. Keep sharing your adventures.

Susan Siegel read an advance copy of Golden Nuggets From a Life Well Lived.  Here is her review:  Golden Nuggets is a treasure trove of wisdom.  Melody C. Thomas has indeed spent a life well lived.  This book is well written, insightful, and a delight to read.  Give a copy to your adult children!

Today is May 1st

May 01, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
Boy, the year is almost half gone. It's funny how time seems to go faster the older you get. Sitting for just 5 minutes as a young child seemed interminable. Today, hours seem to flow by so quickly. Enjoy every day you have, no matter how fast or slow it goes.

Golden Nuggets is for Sale

Apr 23, 2022 by Melody C. Thomas
My book, Golden Nuggets From a LIfe Well LIved, goes on sale May 1, 2022. This is an exciting accomplishment and one I am proud to share. I chose to self-publish rather than use a publisher because, frankly, I am an unknown. Publishers did not want to represent me. Self-publication was quite a learning experience but now I will be more knowledgeable for the next book. Please be sure to let me know how you like the book.
